Corse, 8.722 squared kilometres of extension, is the fourth
Mediterranean island and it'is just 12 km from Sardinia.
Arriving from south by the sea, the island appears
like a "twin" of the close Sardinia, with high calcareous "falesia"
, covered on the top by the typical Mediterranean vegetation, constituted
by myrtle, mastic, cyst and arbutus.
Getting inland, you can notice a lot of very high massifs, among these:
Cinto mountain (m. 2.707), the highest of the island.
The heights remain covered by the snow till late in the summer.
The particularity of this island is the vegetation: in few kilometres
it changes from the Mediterranian to the alpine one, with very dense bushes
of conifers.
The area we have chosen for our routes is the central area, Corsica of
mountains, of crystalline lakes and characteristic villages built by stones.
During the excursions we will go to discover lakes and mountains which
make unic this land.
